Today, Epic Games chose to announce that their releasing the fourth unreal engine upon the video game industry. The Unreal Engine has powered multiple games that have been beloved by millions of people all around the world. These games include Gears of War, BioShock 1, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite. The engine has been in development since 2003, meaning that great efforts have been put in to make this engine everything it can and should be.
Mark Rein, the Vice President behind Epic Games made this announcement through a launch trailer. During the launch trailer your taken through a temple surrounded by lava. During the video you can see the incredible lighting fixtures used in the engine, you can see the detail on character faces and you can see every texture in the game without fail. Essentially the fourth unreal engine can make games that resemble real life in almost every detail.
Mr. Rein made a statement after he showed the launch trailer, stating: “We’ve been working on the Unreal Engine 4 for more than a decade now. Our development team went out of their way to create new features never seen in a video game engine before such as Voxel Cone Tracing which allows for perfect illumination and lighting fixtures around every corner in the game. We know that fans of our software will be shocked by the immense amount of detail and quality put into the engine. We can only hope that our fans will enjoy the new software we’ve been developing for eleven years.”
